Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan (http://www.rksmvv.ac.in/) is a premier Girls’ College in Kolkata dedicated to quality education and holistic development. The state–aided college with an ‘A+ (3.45 CGPA)’ rating by NAAC (3rd cycle, 2025) was established in 1961 and is one of the best Humanities Colleges in the city. It is affiliated to the West Bengal State University.

RKSMVV provides an excellent academic environment, conducive to the learning and well-being of young minds. Situated amidst lush and sprawling greenery, the prestigious 64-year-old institution has academic buildings with modern teaching–learning infrastructure like smart classrooms, audio–visual room, and 3 computer labs; an extensive library, in–campus hostels, an auditorium and a prayer hall—all within the boundaries of its extensive campus.

Following the regulations of the West Bengal State University, the college is now under the New Education Policy (NEP) system from 2023-24. At present, the college offers Honours (renamed as Major) courses in 11 subjects, Multi- Disciplinary Courses in 14 subjects and a Post Graduate degree in one subject.

The majority of the students come from marginalized families and the college provides financial support to the students in need.

The college has an active Activity Club, “Srijoni”. Under this club, students receive regular training in Vocal Music, Dance, Recitation, Debate and Drama. In addition to cultural training, students are encouraged to participate in Sports, Yoga, and Self-Defence training. The college also houses a well-equipped Gymnasium and an Indoor Sports Hall, where students practice regularly.

RKSMVV also takes pride in its strong Placement Cell. The students participate in various industry-related workshops. The college organizes soft skill grooming workshops and also seminars on career counseling. Every year, the college organizes a Mega Job Fair, where several companies participate in campus interviews. Many students have successfully secured placements through the efforts of the Placement Cell.

Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan (RKSMVV) offers several professional and vocational courses alongside its mainstream undergraduate degree programmes. The college provides a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Counselling and a Diploma in GIS & Remote Sensing, along with a range of certificate courses such as Multimedia, Basic Life Support, Digital Marketing, Geriatric Care and Counselling, Tailoring, Organic Farming, and Handicrafts Training. These skill-oriented courses are designed to equip students with practical knowledge and professional expertise, enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods and become self-reliant in their chosen fields.

This is a semi-residential college with a hostel capacity of 168 girl students. The college has three hostel buildings which can accommodate 168 students. Apart from that, the college has three academic buildings,namely the Main building, Swamiji Bhavan and Nivedita Bhavan. College has a two-storied building, Muktiprana Sabhagriha, with an auditorium, library and students’ common room.The college has a separate canteen building also.

A unique feature of this College is its intensive Value-Education Programme, which aims to instill a strong understanding of and respect for cultural and religious diversity and moral values in young minds. These courses, in addition to the year round co-curricular and outreach activities adopted by the students and faculty and staff, help nurture and strengthen the physical, intellectual, moral and spiritual faculties of the students and help create self-reliant and confident individuals, with a strong sense of moral and social responsibilities.
