The Alumni Association of RKSMVV was established with the vision to assist the Alma Mater in its various endeavors and promote the general welfare of the institution; along with forging a strong bond between the alumni, current students, faculty and staff and be the support in shaping the institution’s future.
RKSMVV Alumni Association was formed in July 2003 with the following objectives:-
To promote fellow feeling and fraternity amongst the alumni of the College, as well as between past and present students and the teachers/staff members of the college, To initiate activities which would be directly or indirectly beneficial to the College and its students - past and present, and also the faculty and staff, To provide relief to the ex-students who are in need of help, To hold the Annual Re-union,
To extend financial support through scholarships, free-ships, prizes and other assistance to the deserving students for their academic pursuit. Since its inception, the Association has been striving hard to achieve these objectives by all means and measures.
Recurring Contributions:
- Each year Rs. 3000/- is committed as sponsorship of tuition fee of two students of the college – an Honours and a pass-course student - by the Alumni Association,
- Two prizes- one for Bengali and one for English, of the sum of Rs.1000/-, are awarded by the Alumni Association to two meritorious students of the concerned streams every year,
- The Association sponsors uniforms for needy students to the sum of Rs. 2000/- annually,
- The Association donates a lump sum to the College Development Fund every year.
2022-2023:
- The Association donated a glow-sign board for the College.
- The Alumni funded a financially backward PG student.
- The Association contributed around 1.8 lakhs to renovate and restructure (ACP covering) the front gate or the main entrance of the College.
- Like the previous years, the Alumni contributed towards the Students’ Welfare Fund. Additionally, from May 2023, the Association is contributing 1000/month for two visually impaired students.
- The Association sponsored the food and beverage expenses for the Youth Convention organized by the College on 30.05.2023.
- In keeping with the environmental goals of the College, the Alumni funded an Earth Auger machine in May 2023.
2021-2022:
- The Association donated generously towards the Students’ Welfare Committee fund, which provided support to students with device and data in order to enable them to continue online education during the pandemic years.
- A virtual reunion was organized in 2021 due to prevailing pandemic guidelines.
2019-2020:
- Donation of Rs. 1500/- to ICT Workshop had been made in 2019.
- The Alumni Association along with the Gender Resource Centre of RKSMVV, in collaboration with ‘Ebong Alap’, had organized an exhibition on 18.02.2020 on the ‘Role of Women in India’s Freedom Struggle’. The association also made a contribution of Rs. 2000/- in that regard.
- The Association also made a contribution of Rs. 6000/- for students’ Group Counselling and Rs. 2000/- for students’ Individual Counselling.
The alumni individually, outside the association, as well responded immediately to the appeal of the college’s SWC for financial aid to the current students badly affected by the Amphan. Ex-students settled in different corners of the world reached out with generous contributions to this end and shouldered responsibility with SWC to provide relief to the aggrieved students.
Besides extending financial assistance to the College, the Alumni Association also organizes the following:
- The annual spiritual retreat/religious symposium,
- The Annual Re-union and Alumni AGM,
- Organizing the “Sarada Mela” in collaboration with the College,
- Publishing souvenirs at regular intervals
Past Contributions and Activities:
- The Alumni Association mobilised Rs.50,000/- to contribute to the fund for various advancement endeavours,
- The association also generously donated for the renovation of “Muktiprana Sabhagriha” – the College auditorium,
- The Alumni organized a Motivational and Self-Development Workshop held on 27th November, 2015 for the students.
- The Alumni Association also funded a Self-Defence Workshop, which was conducted by ‘Talash’.
