Mastering Computer Skills
Spoken English
The course is divided primarily into two parts, the first two years are devoted to
developing the learners’ over-all skills in English (reading, writing, speaking, listening,
and developing general proficiency in the language) while the final or third year focuses
on employability skills. The ultimate objective of the course is to ensure that the
learners, after their graduation, can operate confidently in the outside world. The
programme equips the participants with essential skills that not only boost their
confidence levels, but also enhance their chances of getting good jobs and to take on
higher degrees. Through interactive modules it prepares them to face interviews and to
connect with people across geographies.
During the pandemic, the earlier mode of offline teaching was converted into an online
mode, maintaining the regularity of classes and lesson plans on one hand and including
innovative audio-visual techniques in place of the earlier kinesthetic class activities.
Yoga
Yoga is seen as a holistic empowerment of the mind and the body, it is energizing for the body and calming for the mind. Under the guidance of a good trainer and with sustained practice, it yields marvelous rewards. The college therefore prioritizes yoga as one of the most important co-curricular activities for young academics, which can greatly enhance their mindfulness and over-all wellbeing.
Yoga practice is compulsory for all students of the college. An hour is devoted to yoga as part of the academic routine for students of all the three years. For the first two years the class is compulsory for all students, in the third and the final year, the course continues with students who excel in it and have the potential of taking up Yoga as a future profession. The students train under an experienced and enthusiastic teacher, Ms Sadhana Basak (B.P.Ed) who is a yoga and gymnastic coach having a wide range of experiences in fields like fitness and athletics.
The yoga classes of the college have continued online through the time of the Pandemic. Our students have benefitted enormously from these innovative classes during the stressful times of anxiety and isolation.
Yoga as Skill Enhancement Course
The College, under the sanction of West Bengal State University, also has Yoga as an
option for the compulsory SEC course (two credit) under the CBCS curriculum. Any
student of the College can avail of this Yoga course as her SEC subject.
