The College Magazine was coceived with an aim to showcase and encourage
the innate creativity of the students. The earliest issue of the Magazine was
published around 1965, a few years after the establishment of the College.
Every issue displays varied literary writings (in Bengali, English and Sanskrit)
and art works done by enthusiastic and talented students. The Magazine thus
emerges as a platform for the young aspiring writers and artists to demonstrate
their skills and to develop their talents.
The college magazine provides an insight to a diverse range of subjects as
teachers, students and alumni from various disciplines contribute to add to the
rich treasure trove of literature, criticism and art. Students submit their
compositions to the teachers who are deignated as editors of the Magazine.
After careful scrutiny, submissions are sorted and slected for publication.
The Magazine upholds the principles of a holistic education that the College
aims to promote. Students acquire a firm grasp of the principles of critical and
creative writing in the process. Their knowledge base also expands, their
imagination receives a phillip and they are intellectually stimulated. The
Principal and the teachers also contribute regularly to encourage the students.
Special editions of the magazine were published on occasions like Swami
Vivekananda’s birth centenary and the Silver and the Golden jubilees of the
College.
